One of the best opportunities to make money writing for cash is in the field of search engine optimized keyword articles. Over the last two years, this industry has exploded into a market worth hundreds of thousands of dollars for enterprising freelance writers.

Basically, this writing for cash opportunity works as follows. Businesses want to attract as many visitors to their websites as possible, and the top way to draw visitors who wouldn’t otherwise come is through web searches. These companies hire writers or an article provider that commissions writers to write short articles containing common keyword phrases that are related to their business. When the company posts these articles on their website, anyone searching for these keyword phrases with search engines like Google end up seeing the business’s web page at the top of their search results. This increases the chances that people will click into their website.

Search engine optimized keyword articles are a great way to earn money writing for cash because the work is steady and usually very easy for experienced writers. There is also a lot of demand. On the down side, this writing for cash option can often be very tedious and the per word pay is extremely low. However, once you get the hang on it and can start producing quickly, the per hour rate is dependent on how fast you as an individual writer produce and can be pretty decent.

Writing for cash with these types of opportunities is by no means the road to fame and fortune as a writer. However, if you wish to put your writing talents and abilities to use and make real money writing for cash, getting involved with search engine optimized keyword articles is a great way to bring in some extra cash.

It’s a whole new world with unlimited access to ideas and subjects for writers. Endless resources and information are available at the click of your mouse to help you get started and keep you going.

It’s up to you to exercise due diligence to make your dream of writing a reality. It does not happen overnight. It all starts with that first, small step towards pursuing your dream. The internet offers all kinds of avenues for anyone who has ambitions to write. Where do you begin?

Read what the multitude of e-zines and newsletters have to offer. This gives you an idea of what interests people as they spend more and more time surfing the web. What are the latest trends ? Pay attention to issues that tend to pop out here and there, again and again.

Subscribe to pertinent groups or forums that can be helpful in your quest. Stay abreast with the latest news, be interested in anything and everything.

Open up your mind. Then, you can decide which venue is right for you. Ask yourself, are you interested in mainstream type of writing ? Or would you choose specific areas of interest?

Assess your inclinations, your passions and your hobbies. What beliefs do you hold close to your heart? Make a list. In your career, what is your area of expertise? Do you write reports ? Do you keep a journal? A diary? You’re
already a writer!

Get excited about writing down your ideas. The golden opportunity is before you, as never before. Actually, jumping in the bandwagon of writing for the internet can be overwhelming for the faint of heart, confusing for the skeptic, yet exciting for the go-getter. Which one are you?

The internet is open to all segments of society and to people from all walks of life. Access is not limited to the technologically inclined. It is no longer as intimidating as it was when the information superhighway first opened in the 20th century. People are less apt to admit their computer illiteracy, rather, more members of our society are learning how to navigate the cyberspace.

Learn about the basic rules of writing for the web. Cyber readers tend to be fast thinkers, speed readers, with only seconds to spare. If you want to grab their attention, remember, you only have precious few seconds to do it.

Take heart. You already know this. You love to see your by-line. The web will help you get your name out there. The more you write, the better you’ll get at it. Technically, if your work gets published on-line, you are considered published.

Only thing, writing for the web for the countless e-zines and newsletters and web-sites is not for those who intend to make a living from their writing. Not at the start.

If you are willing to write and submit your articles for free, don’t miss out. For the aspiring writer, it is a good way to start. The more you write, the more exposure you will get, readers will get to know your name. Writing for the internet helps to drive traffic to your website.

What are you waiting for?

Let me repeat that — every writer needs a web site!

If you don’t believe me then here are five very good reasons why:

1. Your web site can serve as your showcase and portfolio. It can include your biography, experience, and writing credits as well as copies of your work or better yet–links to your published work. So many queries today are done electronically and it much easier to simply include an url for editors or prospective clients to visit than to try to attach copies and/or a long list of urls on various locations.

2. Your web site can be your creative outlet. Perhaps your bread-and-butter writing is in the financial field but you really enjoy writing poetry or about fly fishing. Then you can publish those pieces on your web site to receive exposure or simply to reward yourself for a job well done. Who knows, you might even find yourself with some new paying assignments in these fields!

3. You can demonstrate your expertise in your particular field or fields by demonstrating the number of articles you have written in that area as well as any experience and/or education you may offer in this field. Listing your articles or putting a selection on your site will get your name linked with various key words surrounding that topic in the search engines.

4. For writers, your name is your brand and you need to continually have your name out there and furthermore you need to have it connected with your areas of expertise. The more articles and essays you have published on the web then the more times your name gets out there for readers, clients, and editors. Owning your own web site (deannamascle.com for example) is like owning your own billboard on the internet superhighway.

5. You can earn money with your own web site and your writing even without getting paid by publications. Place Pay-Per-Click ads on your site or sign up for some affiliate programs to advertise on your site. Depending on the size of your site and the traffic you attract this may become a major new source of income for you!

I hope I’ve convinced you that a web site can be an asset to your writing career, but I must warn you that web mastering can be very addictive to us creative types. Don’t let it overtake your writing time. Start out simple and build over time so you can work out a good balance between your writing and your webmaster activities.

Thousands of articles about writing articles are bouncing all over the internet and the printed media at any given time. Most of these articles are tips and advice, a few are about grammar and clarity and yet others are about subject matter and how to find it. A philosophy for writing articles is none of the above.

Simply put an article writing philosophy is not about how you write but why. Although it is acceptable to write articles for publicity or hits to your website it is not the strongest motive. Then there are those who write by researching the most sought after keywords on the net and write articles that lead people to those words, thus to their sites. This also qualifies as a reason to write but only in the most strained sense of the word.

Writers are somewhat like preachers, they have a soap box called the printed page and they have a message just like the minister, even if the subject matter is not homiletically inclined. As a young preacher I overheard someone say that “young preachers just have to say something, but older preachers may actually have something to say.” The first step in developing a writing philosophy is to ask your self this question…do I have something to say?

Professional people can quickly answer yes to the question of whether they have something to say. Years of study, training and experience put them ahead of others and all they may lack is just a bit of priming to know how to convey their knowledge by the written word. For those who are not professionals the next question should be “how do you see.” Some people are naturally endowed with a good eye. They don’t need to be politicians to have a good grasp of politics. They can predict, criticize, evaluate and comment on the whole sphere with great clarity and in some cases may affect the outcome of politics in some way. They weigh in so to speak on the subject. In case you think that isn’t so check out the vast opportunities for op-eds (opinion editorials) on the internet today. Thousands of political right and left wing sites are looking for people with good political vision. In this “of the people” society John Q Public is still sought for his view of political figures and things done in the political theatre.

Having a good “minds eye” applies to any field of interest whatsoever. Technicians put together complex electronic and telemetering devices in spacecraft but some people are weighing the result of all that space hardware on people, the environment or the future of man and their insight may be just as needed as the tiniest circuit board any techie can produce.

The motivation for writing an article may only be to provide information; at other times it may be to provide inspiration. Even anger could qualify as a good motive if you are particularly incensed over some injustice or bad behavior. It may sound all to rudimentary or perhaps old fashioned to say that if you are seeking a higher good to be done through your writing then you will always succeed. Sound corny? Think again. No one will ever reject an article that attempts to right a wrong, lift people up or provide a little light and comfort in a troubled world. If that is your motive then that is your philosophy. Good writing.

The world of creative writing is an ever expanding one as stories or genres continue to evolve in a natural reaction to the changes in time. Having confirmed writing skills, however, is not enough to succeed in creative writing. Having passion for it is more important than having technical expertise. Love for creative writing, and not adherence to the grammatical elements, is what will ultimately guide you to doing things properly and successfully.

6 Tips for Your First Attempt at Creative Writing

Don’t Stop Reading – It’s impossible to become a writer, much less a creative writer, without being a reader first. Discovering your love for writing shouldn’t stop you from further devouring reading materials but should instead encourage you to diversify your taste. If you want to become good in creative writing, you need to broaden your horizons. Don’t limit yourself to reading one genre because this can only provide you with limited knowledge. If you want to improve, read everything that you can get your hands on.

Don’t Stop Learning – You can ask Stephen King, Danielle Steele, Dan Brown, and JK Rowling, and all of them will surely tell you that they’re not perfect writers and will never be. No one can be perfect in any way, and if you allow your writing to stagnate, readers will soon get bored with your work. Of course, before you can continue learning about creative writing, you first have to acknowledge the fact that your writing is definitely imperfect. Get past your ego if you want to be a successful creative writer.

Choosing a Topic – You’ve heard countless people tell you that to be a successful writer, you need to write about you know, and that’s true. But more importantly than that, you have to write about something you love or something you hate, just as long as it’s a topic that arouses passion in your heart and brings your pen aflame! If you find something that interests you but you don’t have adequate knowledge about then research it by all means! Research, research, and research, until you can safely say that you’re writing something you know and love.

Build Your Vocabulary – True enough, Ernest Hemingway earned fame by using poignantly – but sometimes brutally – simple words for narrating events in his stories. But building your vocabulary surely wouldn’t hurt, would it? Broadening your vocabulary and discovering its etymology can be one of the ways for you to develop a story idea or an effective way of setting the tone or mood for a particular chapter. But more important than that, building your vocabulary will reduce the instances when you can’t just quite say the word you want but it’s already in the tip of your tongue.

Don’t Let It Get Away – If an idea suddenly occurs to you, and it seems excellent for a future story, write it down. If you’re walking down the street and you suddenly think of a good dialog for your characters, write it down. Don’t let anything get away because the human mind is a tricky thing, and it might be impossible for you to recall exactly what occurred to you just three minutes ago. Good story ideas are a dime in a dozen, but great ideas are definitely few, and who knows if what you’ve written down will one day become one of the latter?

And last but not the least, NEVER STOP WRITING. Don’t make publication of your work the ends and means for your writing. Write because you love to write!

The Internet is all about providing information to people. That’s why there is a huge demand for informative articles that other webmasters can use on their sites. But although you can write them yourself, there are times when you need some assistance in order to provide content to your visitors or for other purposes.

You may need to hire a writer because of time restraints or because you are not familiar with certain topics. By hiring a writer, you can focus on other tasks and have your content written by other experienced people.

There are several points to notice to get the proper content you need:

- Find out what kind of article you want to outsource.

Decide the main purpose of the article. Do you want to use it as content for your website, submit to article directory or as newsletter? Is it intended to presell a product or just to get inbound links to your website? Prepare the keywords for the article.

- Look for writers

Visit freelance websites like Elance.com and browse the profile of some writers. Usually, they provide their past works to show their writing ability. Check out the quality of their work. Don’t forget to notice some comments from their own customers. But remember that no one is perfect.

The rate of an article is around $5 (check the quality at this price) to $35 and more depending on the author’s reputation, but usually you have to order more than one article to meet a minimum order. The rules may vary.

It is up to you whether you want to invite certain writers or not. Some writers can write a topic in details because of their background. The cost of hiring a writer is variable depending on the level of expertise required, the amount of research needed and the nature of the assignment.

Make sure to tell them clearly about the right you want to have with the articles. If you don’t want any restriction of using the articles, tell them now. You may also think to not allow the writer to use his works for other purposes (e.g resell them).

-Checking

Check the articles after you receive them. Make sure the writer you are hiring follow your guidelines. Make a note of his or her work. Can he provide quality work and respect your needs and deadline?

By outsourcing the writing task, you will have more time to focus on other work you like. You will free up more time for marketing and advertising.

Finally, don’t forget to keep up with the latest information related to your industry, too. So you will know which topic is being hot and profitable.

Hiring writers is a great way to provide useful content for your website visitors easily. So give it a try.

In fact, my initial foray into writing for the Internet was not intended to be a profitable venture but rather a way to express myself when I made the transition to teaching writing. I knew that after decades of writing daily that I would need that outlet. Imagine my surprise when I discovered that my hobby could actually earn more than my professional ventures? That is why I encourage my students and my writer friends to explore Internet writing for fun and profit. There are three good reasons for writers to spend at least a sizable chunk of their writing time writing for the Internet.

First, and foremost, if you are a writer then you need an audience. If you are reading this article then you know there is a huge audience accessing their reading material via the Internet. Unlike the reading audience of traditional printed materials, the Internet-reading audience is growing exponentially. More and more people are forgoing traditional newspapers, magazines, and books to subscribe to ezines, web pages, blogs, and RSS feeds. If you can find your audience on the Internet, then that is a very good reason to write for the web.

Another good reason for writers to transition to the web is that is where the money is today. While money can be made through the traditional avenues of publishing books, selling articles, or working as a writer for hire it is getting more and more difficult for established, proven writers to make a living and extremely difficult for newcomers to break in at a livable wage. However writers can start up their own business fast and cheap or work for hire to learn the ropes and build up their nest egg. Trying to do either of those things in the traditional publishing world will not find success.

Finally, or third, there is a niche for everyone on the Internet. Most traditional publishing methods are limited to a specific region due to the cost of printing and distribution. However neither is a consideration on the Internet, so writers can reach audiences around the globe. This means that what may seem a rather small niche (of say people who collect dachsund sweaters) may well find their audience is hundreds, thousands, or even millions. That means there is a need for articles and publications for these folks. As an avid dachsund sweater collector yourself you are an ideal writer for any publications currently serving this niche and if there aren’t any then you have a wide-open field to start your own.

These three simple reasons should be enough for any writer to consider writing for the web. The Internet is a great place to break in and get started as a professional writer and the Internet is an even better place for the established pro to profit.

Anyone can write an article and use it to promote their website. The distribution of articles through free article directories is one of the best ways to promote your website. Even if you have never written one, there is at least one type of article that almost anyone can write.

A Top-Ten Or List-Article

Choose with a topic that is relevant to your website and find a good keyword for it. This is the phrase that people will use when they use a search engine to find your article. If you aren’t sure how to do keyword research, just ask yourself what words you would use to search for an article on this topic.

Think of an aspect of your topic that can be made into a list. You’re going to write an article that has the “Top Ten Ways” to do something, or “Six Simple Techniques For” something, or “Five Questions To Ask” Whoever. Other possibilities include “Six Great Ideas For…,” “Top Ten Tips for…,” “Ten Secrets About…,” “Three Steps To…,” and so on.

Now just follow the simple outline below. Suppose the article is on ways that you can get free traffic for a website, and the key word is “free website traffic.”

1. Write a title for the article, using the keyword it, so searchers can find your article more easily: “Six Ways To Get Free Website Traffic.”

2. Write a description of one or two sentences, telling the reader what they will get from reading your article: “How many ways do you use to get free traffic for your website? You’ll learn six of the best here.”

3. “Sell” the article in the first paragraph, using the keyword again: “Free website traffic is a few clicks away if you know where to look…”

4. Create a numbered list, and explain each entry with a couple sentences: “1. Write articles. This is perhaps the best way to get free website traffic. Submit your articles to article directories, and readers find there way to your site by way of the link at the end of your article. 2. Exchange links with high traffic websites…”

5. End the article with a short paragraph, using the keywords one more time: “You can see that some of these ways to get free website traffic are easier than others, but why not try all of them. The real question is which will work best for your website…” This summary paragraph isn’t always necessary.

6. Create a short “About The Author” or author’s resource box. Have just one link to your website in it. Talk less about yourself than about why the reader should visit your site. Entice and tease: “For more ways to get free website traffic, visit…” This is possibly the most important part of how to write an article for website promotion.

I’m sure you’re reading all over the Internet that content is one of the most important components of building your business, and in my opinion I agree that writing an article and posting it throughout the Internet is an essential way to finding your desired targeted traffic.

If you have never written business articles before, you have to remember key things to make sure your article is a success, and attracts the readers searching for your information. Take the approach of writing one article at a time, and don’t worry about how many you need to create to get the exposure. Just like developing a business plan, you want to ensure that you do all your necessary research, compile it in an easy to read format that you know will allow your readers to follow without losing the message half way through!

I read so many business articles that lose me by the second paragraph, because I notice their intentions are to promote their business, and not offer any valuable information that I’m seeking to help me. This may be done intentionally, but sometimes I truly feel these writers are trying to do too much in such little time, and they want to produce and send out as much as they can at one time, not realizing that they are compromising the quality of their article and the message they want to get out to the readers.

If you’re in business for a short-term, that’s fine, you can produce useless content and spread it throughout the Internet. However, in my opinion, I would rather take the time and create an article that when someone reads it, they will say that it helped them in some way.

Your expertise, and if you’re promoting a web site business can be jeopardized very quickly, so don’t ever underestimate the people reading your article. They have vast knowledge already, they do their research, but sometimes they need that little bit of information to get them back on track, and if you can provide them the information they’re looking for, your one article will be on its way to being very successful!

Once you’ve finally developed that keyword rich, informative article explaining how your business products can help make people’s lives so much better, you will also notice that your well-written business articles will be quickly picked up by some of the top ezine and content publishers.

This is important, because you want to get your message out to as many people as you can, and this is achieved by sending them to top directories that distribute your content for you. If you create a poorly written article, chances are these content directories will not touch it. This is a very good indication that your company has to go back to the drawing board and start revamping your article!

When you take the time to create an article that many readers will take your information and use it to help them better their lives, you will have achieved something that many bad article writers don’t, and that’s business authority, and respect. In the long run if you stick to developing more value-based articles rather than a large volume of badly written articles, you will surely build a successful foundation for your business for many years to come!

There’s thousands, millions of article sites out there. You might even count blogs as article web sites and there are new ones popping up every day. The question is: what writing makes you want to read them?

You. You you you.

You. It’s all about you. When writing an article or a tutorial, make sure it’s directed to the person reading it. No one cares about what the author thinks, you want to get the job done. You don’t care about them. Make sure you don’t use words like “we, us, I” and use “you.” It keeps the article or tutorial personal.

Grammar

Keep the grammar casual, but still good. Do you want to sift through a mess of spelling errors and run-on sentences trying to figure out what the author is saying? No, of course you don’t. No one does. Spell check it, grammar check it, read over it once. Make sure your readers can understand you.

Examples

When you read an article, usually you want to see some kind of concrete proof about something the author is talking about. If the article you’re reading is a tutorial, you want to see the end result, right? So put it at the beginning. You don’t want to have to scroll all the way down to see what the final outcome of all your work is to decide you don’t like it. Put your examples at the top to show your readers.

Keep It Casual

Make sure your readers aren’t bored. If you’re going to be writing a long article, might as well make it fun for them to read. You don’t want to read an article straight from a science journal (unless it is a science journal), and even then it should still be somewhat casual. I’ve seen some science articles that are interesting because of how it’s written.

Originality

Put a spin on your writing. Make it your own. It’s cliché, yes, but do it! No one wants to read the same idea over and over. I know I’ve been somewhat guilty of it, but some rule breaking is alright. Like talking about myself here. It’s an example. Refer to #3.

Bold Words

Bold words always help. So do lists, links, and quotes. Readers like you can skim for the bold words they’re looking for, and find what they want. It’s perfect for them. Saves time, and gets to the point.

Conclusion

Always have an awesome conclusion that wraps it up nicely. You always want to see that whole work of art brought together with a nice summation. So if they want to skip that boring article you wrote because they didn’t pay attention, you can hope they’ll read that nice summarized conclusion. Like this: Make the article personal, use lots of examples and styled text to make the article easier for the user, watch your grammar, and make the article your own and have fun with it!
